Connect
Iowa Partnership
Realizing
that broadband access is critical to the State's economic
development efforts, IARC and its member COGs are partnering
with Connect Iowa to promote broadband access and adoption
and provide broadband education to Iowa communities. IARC
and COGs will work with local governments to identify community
leaders and help establish community technology committees
that will work to identify local assets, challenges and
solutions related to broadband access and adoption in the
community.
Strengthening
Iowas COGs: Building Capacity through the Iowa Association
of Regional Councils (EDA Project #05-88-04743)
In April 2009, East Central Iowa Council of Governments
(ECICOG) and the Iowa Association of Regional Councils (IARC)
were awarded funding through the Economic Development Administration's
(EDA) Short Term Planning program. The purpose of the award
is to assist in providing dedicated, professional staff
to IARC, in an effort to enhance the capacity of IARC and
its member councils of governments. This project is designed
to serve as a model for other state associations.
The following documents include IARC's annual reports to
EDA on project progress and successes. These reports highlight
projects IARC has taken on as a state association, future
goals and priorities and challenges faced by our association.
We hope these reports are useful resources other statewide
associations and regional planning organizations. Also,
we hope this information provides our partners and others
with a better understanding of IARC's mission and the work
of its members throughout Iowa.
